History
Westwood Library's origins date back to 1961 when it was called the Assiniboine Library and was located in the Westwood Village Shopping Centre. In 1967, the Municipality of Assiniboia chose to build a new 7,619 sq. ft. library for its Centennial project, and shortly thereafter the library moved into the new facility. It was renamed the Westwood Library and on January 1, 1979, it joined the newly amalgamated Winnipeg Public Library system. An elevator was installed in 2003 for accessibility.
