What can I do in the ideaMILL?
The ideaMILL has a wide variety of equipment available for public use. No prior skills required. Simply come down, hang out, learn a new skill, and share your expertise!
Staff are not experts but are happy to introduce you to our equipment.
Services
A signed waiver form is required to use ideaMILL equipment. Paper copies of the waiver forms are available at the ideaMILL for you to review and sign. If you prefer, you can also review, print, and bring the signed form with you.
Digitize old memories
Digitize old photos, videos, cassette tape or records for free with your library card!
Don't forget:
- You'll need to bring a USB stick to save your files.
- Video and audio digitization happens in real time, so make sure you come prepared to stay for the length of your recording.

Record in a sound booth
Record your podcast, album, demo or audiobook in one of our two Whisper Room sound booths. Each booth comes equipped with a laptop with recording software and headphones.
Our larger Whisper Room holds up to three people and is wheelchair accessible. The smaller booth fits one person and is best for small instruments only.
A variety of microphones, audio software and accessories are available to make your recording sound its best!

Book photography/video equipment
Lights! Camera! Action! Book our Canon 7D Mark II DSLR camera for photoshoots or short videos within our space. Book our backdrop and lighting kit to make your perfect shot or use our Rode Go 2 wireless mics for accompanying audio.

Use sewing machines
The ideaMILL offers bookable several sewing machines, including an industrial machine, an embroidery machine and a quilting machine. Whether you're new to sewing or a seasoned pro, come check out our machines and start your next project with us!
Please do not bring scissors with you to use; they cannot be brought in through the Millennium entrance. Scissors are available for use while using sewing machines in the space.

Vinyl/fabric cutters & heat press
Create your own custom greeting card, vinyl decal, or personalized t-shirt with our Cricut cutter and heat press.
Embroidery machine
Personalize your bath towels, tote bags, clothing and more with our embroidery machine. Create your own design using our JUKI software and produce an embroidered patch or logo on our machine!

Our Proxxon makes clean, precise cuts on foam. It's perfect for building architectural models or prototypes.
Mould making with Mayku formbox
The Mayku formbox can bring your mould prototype to life. Think concrete supplies, decorative objects, candy/chocolate or soap moulds and more!
3D printers
3D printers are available for public use with ideaMILL staff assistance. To ensure that your print has the best chance of success and quality, staff will execute print jobs on your behalf.
We have two Ultimaker 3 printers that can print your designs in PLA plastic using a variety of colours.
