Millennium Library Renovation

Millennium Library, 251 Donald Street, will be undergoing extensive renovation work to replace carpets and lighting in the building. The project is expected to end in early 2023.

About the closure

The library will remain open while carpeting and lighting are replaced one floor at a time. Renovations will begin on the second floor, followed by the first, third and then fourth. Access to certain collections and services will be impacted as each floor closes. Please see below for additional information on timelines and which services and collections are available during the renovations.

Borrowing and returning

The checkout/return desks and after-hours book returns will be available throughout the renovations

Contacting the library

Service over the phone will be available throughout the renovation. Phone lines at a closed service desk will be forwarded to an open service desk. Questions can also be sent via Ask Us.

Using computers

Computers will be unavailable for the duration of the floor’s closure. For the fourth floor closure, computers will be added on other floors. Due to reduced availability, extensions on computer time cannot be given. Please see staff for booking a computer on an alternate floor or another branch, or visit Book a Computer.


A selection of material from the closed floor will be moved to the main floor New & Noted area for borrowing. As shelving will be inaccessible, the remaining collections from the closed floor will be unavailable, including for holds.


The lobby and entrance areas, including access to Millennium Library parkade and Skywalk, will remain open with their usual operating hours throughout the renovations.
