Little Free Libraries

Little Free Libraries in Winnipeg photo

The Little Free Library movement seeks to build community and promote the love of reading by encouraging free book exchanges. Begun in 2009 in Wisconsin, US, the premise of "take a book, return a book" with small book shelters has grown to well over 50,000 book exchanges worldwide.

Want to read more about the movement? Visit www.littlefreelibrary.org (includes how to build and start your own LFL, and a map to registered LFLs around the world).

Winnipeg Public Library supports the Little Free Library (LFL) movement in building community connections and spreading the joy of reading. Are you a steward in need of books? You can access our used book sales as a not-for-profit and stock up on as many as you need, free!

Or would you like to have our At The Library bimonthly guide to our free programs sent to you to stock in your Little Free Library? Contact us with how many you would like and we will add you to our mailing list. We have bookmarks, pamphlets and other information on the public library as well. Let us know what you need and we will send to you at no cost.

Do you have an unregistered LFL? We have a limited number of donated charter number plaques courtesy of www.littlefreelibrary.org. Contact KathleenWilliams@winnipeg.ca if you would like a FREE charter number plaque to officially register your LFL.
