Library Internet computers are provided for library-related learning, research, and information. The Internet contains a wide variety of material and opinions. It is an unregulated, global environment. Not all Internet sites provide accurate, complete, current, or appropriate information. Users need to be wise consumers and evaluate the information they find. Winnipeg Public Library does not monitor or control any of the information available through the Internet and cannot be responsible for its content.

All Internet users are expected to use this resource in a responsible manner, consistent with the educational and informational purposes for which the Library provides access to it. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for their children's access to the Internet and may decide which Internet resources are appropriate for their children to use. Library staff have identified some Internet sites of interest to children which are available through the Library's website. Winnipeg Public Library does not offer e-mail accounts, or any of the following services: posting to news groups, file transfer, or downloading to compact disc or DVD media. However, you may use the computers with Internet access at the Library to register for free web-based e-mail accounts.

Users who attempt to use library workstations for actionable or unlawful purposes or to install, modify, or delete software will have their library privileges revoked and may be prosecuted.
