Also available are Express Bestsellers, books in CD format, music CDs and a growing collection of large print books, DVDs and videos. The Westwood Library circulates over 230,000 items per year. Through programming and the provision of friendly reference service, the Westwood Library maintains a strong rapport with the community.
The Westwood Library is a two-level facility with study tables and seating in the periodicals area on the main floor for adults. A wheelchair ramp, an automatic door and a handicapped washroom make the adult facilities available to all. A new circulation desk constructed in 2003 changed the layout of the adult department. An elevator was also installed, making the children’s area available to every child. There is a study area for children on the lower level and a Meeting/Story Time Room with a seating capacity of 35. (More information about meeting rooms for rent.) For your convenience, a book chute for the return of materials after hours is situated to the right of the front door.
Library customers can receive information and reader's advisory service either in person or by telephone during library hours- call 204-986-4742. The library offers a full range of electronic services including Internet access, online databases (general interest magazines online, research and health information), and children's CD-ROM stations.

Westwood Library's origins date back to 1961 when it was called the Assiniboine Library and was located in the Westwood Village Shopping Centre. In 1967, the Municipality of Assiniboia chose to build a new 7000 sq. ft. library for its Centennial project, and shortly thereafter the library moved into the new facility. It was renamed the Westwood Library and on January 1, 1979, it joined the newly amalgamated Winnipeg Public Library system.
